The Momentum U2, 2.5kw electric outboard motor is the lightest way to get real performance out of a small motor. Deciding on shaft length
The Momentum U2 comes with 2 shaft length. It mirrors the shaft length of traditional Gas outboard motors. When in doubt, select the long shaft. From our own testing, Electric-marine.com recommends long shaft for most application and the additional length did not seem to affect performance.

Jeff here, aboard Fusion Powered Sailing Vessel 9 LIVES, I had the chance to run an early pre-production Momentum U2, and it has not let me down. Quiet, light, and instant-on. Yesterday, I rescued a fellow sailor stranded with a dead ICE outboard. I have not taken it on long trips, the battery is not meant for that, but if you carry the Charger? Any 110V Outlet will charge it, for short runs and real-world reliability, I love it.
