The right motor for a fishing inflatable, backed by a team that actually shows up!
I run the Momentum M10 on the back of my 14′ inflatable FastCat, and I use it to get from fishing spot to fishing spot as fast as my boat reasonably allows. For that use case, it’s the best motor I could have chosen.
Performance: My boat needs about 10 to 11 mph to get on plane, and the M10 gets me there in just a few seconds. The instant torque never gets old. It planes easily with me alone and with four adults aboard, and I regularly see 16 mph on the motor’s display. I’ve run it on many of the Finger Lakes in NY, in variable chop and through different seasons, and it has never disappointed.
Range and battery: Managing battery on an electric outboard seemed stressful at first, but it quickly became a non-issue. I’ve gotten over 15 miles while on plane without running full throttle, and it’s amazing how much further you go by backing off just a few mph. The MB-6 battery communicates real-time usage to the motor so it can manage the available energy and help make sure you get back home. If I ever want more range, I can add more 72V batteries, but for me the single MB-6 is perfect.
No gas headaches: I don’t enjoy the maintenance or noise of gas motors at all. The M10 is quiet, clean, and ready when I am.
Support: This is where electric-marine really stands out. Ashley and Leonard have gone out of their way every time I’ve needed help. They helped me dial in my setup, and it’s amazing how much difference adjusting the trim one notch made in smoothing out the ride. When I had a battery that still worked but whose LED display wouldn’t power off, the RMA process was simple and I was never without power. I expected pushback and got none. Leonard even came to my house in New York to personally perform a firmware update on my M10. That level of care is rare.

As a retired aviation pro who’s spent a career chasing reliability, redundancy, and zero-tolerance-for-failure systems, I’ve put this motor through the wringer living at anchor aboard 9 LIVES. I cannot go back to gas — ever. Flash, our Polycraft Tuffy 300 tender, has never been more capable, and our petrochem-free lifestyle just got even better.
We’re currently anchored in Indian Lagoon, using Flash every single day for the real liveaboard grind: schlepping supplies back and forth from shore — water jugs, provisions, trash runs, you name it. I have just got the new M10 delivered, set it ip and tested it with the help of the dealer.
We were able to go on a plane easily in my 11ft tender (skiff) with 3 adults and 3 kids,
Was really impressed with the fact that we got on a plane with boat fully loaded.
Not to mention at half power we were cruising at 6knots.
First outing was a blast, can’t wait to test the unit further during the cruising season this summer.
